Frequently asked questions
How and when do I get paid?
We pay you automatically every month. You can choose how you get paid, including bank transfer, wire transfer, and PayPal.
You can also withdraw your balance at any time.
When will I see my first earnings?
Your first report usually arrives about 3 months after the release date of your first release. Stores take around 3 months to send us both their reports and the money.
When do I see my earnings and get paid?
We publish your statement around the 15th of every month. You’ll get a notification in your account when it’s ready.
Earnings appear about 3 months after the month they were made. For example, January’s earnings appear around April 15, and February’s around May 15.
If the 15th is a weekend or public holiday, we publish it the next business day. These dates are estimates, because they depend on when each store reports to us. If a store reports late, those earnings go on the next statement. We can’t send a statement or payment before its scheduled date.
How can my manager or bandmate access my account without my password?
Add them to your team. They sign in with their own account, so you never share your password. They need a free Spare Music account first.
Open your avatar and go to Team settings.
Select the Members tab, then Invite team member.
Enter their email address and choose their access.
Select Add member.
They’ll get an invite by email and need to accept it. Only the team owner can add team members.
Can I see detailed analytics and reports on the performance of my music?
Yes. Track daily streams by store and country, drill into every statement, and see revenue by release and split from your dashboard.
How long until my music is live in stores?
We review your release and send it to stores in as little as 48 hours on paid plans, and 14 days on the Free plan. Stores then usually list it within a few days.
How much does Spare Music cost?
The Free plan costs nothing and pays 50% of royalties. Artist is $19.99 a year for 95%, and Artist Pro ($59.99 a year) and Label (from $99.99 a year) keep 100%. No hidden fees, no long-term contracts.
Can I retain the rights to my music while using your service?
Yes. You keep 100% of the rights to your music, we only distribute it and collect royalties on your behalf.
Can I send music made with samples or AI tools to stores?
Yes, as long as you tell us about any AI tools you used and any samples you didn’t create. You do this when you send your release for review.
Stores set their own rules, so some music with samples or AI may not go to every store. Some AI-generated audio is rejected outright. If you’re not sure, check your tool’s terms and contact us before you send it for review.
If you don’t tell us, your release can be rejected or removed from stores.
Can I send cover songs to stores?
Yes, with a license. Open the EasySongLicensing tool in your dashboard and request a license for each cover. Requests usually take 1 to 2 business days.
When you create your release, credit the original songwriters and publishers.
